Take a look behind the scenes of the 18th KAMERALNE LATO film workshops

It’s been a month since the finale of KAMERALNE LATO, yet the vibrant energy of the young filmmakers who participated in our film education programs continues to inspire us. From July 6 to 12, Radom hosted nearly 60 emerging talents from five European countries, all gathered to hone their skills and create cinema that moves and captivates.

Creative brainstorming sessions over scripts, intense work on set, and meticulous final touches in post-production — this was the daily experience for the workshop participants in Radom. These sessions went beyond lessons in directing, editing, or camera work; they became a true school of courage, empowering young filmmakers to tell their own stories, break down barriers, and collaborate within diverse international teams.

In just one week, the groups created five compelling short films that entertain, move, and provoke thoughtful reflection.

Under the artistic guidance of Jakub Bastkowski and Konrad Miklaszewski, participants of the ABC of Working with a Camera workshops produced two impactful prevention-themed spots: The Office Radom and Gołąbeczek.

At the same time, young filmmakers from the international TOGETHER – ToGetThere program created three engaging social advertisements – Too Sweet To Quit, The Monolith, and But(t) – with mentorship from Karolina Węglorz-Zima, Marek Pawlikowski, and Karim Kourani.

These witty and creative productions proved that the imagination of young creators truly knows no bounds. Their premiere screenings were held on July 12 at the Mazovian Centre of Contemporary Art “Elektrownia” during the official finale of the film education programs at the 18th International Film Meetings KAMERALNE LATO. They will soon be available to watch online!

This year’s KAMERALNE LATO also marked the conclusion of the two-year Pracownia A35 project, which in its latest edition focused on supporting young cultural animators in taking their first steps on the job market. The initiative helped them develop key skills, gain hands-on experience, and forge valuable professional connections. Its participants now have a strong foundation that allows them to navigate the worlds of culture and film with greater confidence.

The educational section of the 18th KAMERALNE LATO once again proved that cinema is a truly universal language – one that unites people, sparks inspiration, and makes dreams possible. And when young filmmakers step behind the camera, their creativity and energy can light up even the cloudiest days. With such a wealth of ideas and cinematic passion, parting ways is never easy. We eagerly await the surprises the next edition will bring from these talented young creators.
